About Us
Rayleigh Roadways Limited was founded in July 1969 by the late Mr Norman Read of the Ferrers Coaches, later in 1971 Norman's daughter Brenda and husband George took over the business. Today Brenda's daughter Wendy and her husband Kevin now operate the business together with their daughter Clare and son Andrew.
From 2012 we have amended our trading name from Rayleigh Roadways to Kevendys. Why you might ask? We have been considering this change for many years and frequently get asked why are you called Rayleigh Roadways and are often mistaken for a haulage company. Although there is a perfectly good reason for our name, it has no connection to our directors Wendy and Kevin. So we therefore came up with the name Kevendys from their names which we feel brings a warmer and more personal touch to our company.
Our modern fleet of coaches are of immaculate appearance, each with its own characteristics. All coaches are fitted with seat belts, other features include reclining seats, toilets, tea & coffee machine, folding tables and air conditioning. All vehicles are maintained to the highest standard as safety is of the utmost importance.
Our skilful drivers will ensure you have a safe and comfortable journey with a friendly and reliable service, which has been one of the company's main areas of success. All drivers are carefully picked and have undergone enhanced CRB checks. We are also proud to say, that our son Andrew was a finalist in the category of coach driver of the year at the 2011 Coach Tourism Awards.
Over the past 43 years thousands of satisfied customers have travelled with us to all over the UK and Europe. We specialise in group bookings, club outings, organised day trips, weddings, social functions, weekend and extended tours together with our own day excursion and holidays which are fully escorted with local boarding points. Tea/Coffee is available on most of our day excursions and holidays for your comfort and convenience.
