About the event
Day 1 We travel to our overnight hotel.
Day 2 We continue our journey to Ayrshire and our main stay hotel.
Day 3 This morning we take the ferry from Ardrossan to the Isle of Arran. We head to the north of the island and the Isle of Arran Distillery for a tour and whisky tasting. A tour of the island, including a stop-off for lunch, brings us to Brodick Castle, Garden and Country Park. The interior of the imposing 800 year old castle is renowned for its collections of period furniture, silverware, porcelain, paintings and sporting trophies. After time to explore the gardens we take the ferry back to Ardrossan.
Day 4 Today we take the ferry to visit the delightful Isle of Bute. We visit Mount Stuart for a private tour of the 19th century country manor house, one of Scotland’s most spectacular Victorian Gothic mansions. After the tour there’s free time to explore some of the 300 acres of gloriously maintained grounds and gardens.
Day 5 A morning visit to Culzean Castle, one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions. A private tour will be followed by time to explore the extensive grounds. In the afternoon we visit the birthplace of the poet Robert ‘Robbie’ Burns. We’ll see the cottage where he was born, and the Brig o’ Doon, the original 15th century bridge which provided the setting for Tam o’ Shanter.
Day 6 We return to our overnight hotel. Day 7 Homeward bound.
