We spend time in the attractive and historic riverside town of Lewes County town of East Sussex, it is situated within the boundaries of the South Downs National Park. Â Boasting a fine Norman Castle and many varied and attractive shops - there is much here to see. Â Set in the Cuckmere Valley, Alfriston is a pretty village with many fine buildings. Â The Star Inn was built as a hostel by the Abbot of Battle and used by travellers on pilgrimages from Battle to Chichester. Â It was here that King Alfred is reputed to have burned the cakes. Â
