Based in Durham conveniently close to Bishop Auckland where Kynren - an Epic Tale of England is performed. The action-packed live blockbuster is performed by a cast and crew of over 1,000, taking you on an amazing journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend. Kynren is a world class show brought to life with magnificent sets, combat, stunts, horsemanship, stunning pyrotechniques and amazing special effects, set to a thrilling original soundtrack.
We depart our local area and travel to Boundary Mills Retail Outlet in Grantham to enable you to purchase refreshments before we continue our journey to our hotel where we stay for the next four nights.
After a leisurely breakfast we depart for Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England. It has been the home to the Duke of Northumberland's family, the Percys for over 700 years. Combining magnificent medieval architecture with spectacular Italianate slate rooms, Alnwick Castle is one of the UK's most significant heritage destinations. In recent years it has also taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films and as a location for Downton Abbey. As well as general admission to the castle we have also included a private tour of 'Alnwick on Location' and a delicious cream tea to include sandwiches and cakes.
After breakfast you have free time in Durham to enable you to purchase lunch and explore this quintessential old English University City. After an early evening meal, we commence the relatively short journey to Bishop Auckland for the highlight of our itinerary, being the world class show Kynren. As dusk falls, you take your seat in anticipation in front of a vast stage. Kynren takes you on an action packed and emotional journey through time. Encompassing the Roman occupation, the Viking and Norman invasions medieval feasts and jousting, the splendor of the Tudors, the English Civil War, the Georgian Renaissance, Industrial Revolution and two world wars.
We bid farewell to our hotel and retrace our steps back home stopping in Newark to enable you to purchase refreshments before we continue our journey back home.
