About the event
We spend time in the attractive and historic riverside town of Lewes, County town of East Sussex, it is situated within the boundaries of the South Downs National Park. Boasting a fine Norman Castle and many varied and attractive shops. Alfriston is a pretty village with many fine buildings. The Star Inn was built as a hostel by the Abbot of Battle and used by travellers on pilgrimages from Battle to Chichester. It was here that King Alfred is reputed to have burned the cakes.
